The day
You start after lunch, high on the slope above Okanagan Lake, where the view does half the work for us. The wineries up here sit close together, so the afternoon goes on tasting rooms rather than on the road between them.
Four stops. Long enough at each to get a proper conversation going, short enough that nobody starts checking their phone. Your guide has the bookings, the timings and the road; you have the glass.

Four stops, four or five pours at each, and they are tasting pours rather than glasses. Most people find it comfortable. Nobody is obliged to finish anything, and your guide will not make it awkward.
